REALTORS® Legislative Meetings Kick Off Monday

The meetings run May 3–14, and members can sign up for free to attend governance meetings and education sessions at The event advances priority issues for the real estate industry and the livelihoods of REALTORS®. This year’s meetings will include a special focus on ways to reduce the racial homeownership gap and ensure equitable housing opportunities, as well as solutions for boosting lagging housing inventory.

Last year, more than 28,000 NAR members and other participants registered for the first-ever virtual REALTORS® Legislative Meetings, a dramatic increase from the 9,000 who typically attend the in-person May meetings in Washington, D.C.

“The benefits and importance of NAR’s advocacy work have been more evident this past year than perhaps at any other time in our history,” says NAR President Charlie Oppler. “While we hoped we’d be able to gather in person for our legislative meetings this year, NAR is encouraged by the record registration we witnessed last May, and we’re looking forward to again facilitating critical conversations about policy and politics among REALTORS®, lawmakers, and real estate industry leaders.”

Notable sessions you won’t want to miss:

  • Attendees will hear the latest insights and trends during the residential and commercial economic outlook sessions from NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. He’ll surely address what’s top of mind for many members: the extreme housing shortfall. Demand for homes now exceeds supply by an estimated 4 million properties.
  • CNN political contributor Van Jones and NPR’s national political correspondent Mara Liasson will offer observations about the political landscape in D.C. and around the country, while lawmakers from both sides of the aisle will share their take on the national politics.
  • At a special session on May 12, organizational psychologist and best-selling author Adam Grant will discuss the power of “knowing what you don’t know.”

The two-week event features online networking opportunities and a robust trade expo offering product demos and discounts as well as a place to chat with representatives from leading real estate–related companies.
